Many women choose to undergo breast lift surgery every year to restore their breasts to an elevated, perkier position on the chest. At Hanemann Plastic Surgery, we also offer revision breast lift surgery to maintain those results when signs of stretching and sagging reappear.
Hanemann Plastic Surgery serves the Baton Rouge area in Louisiana, offering a wide range of surgical and nonsurgical procedures for the face, body, breast and skin. Contact us today to schedule a consultation with board certified plastic surgeon Dr. Michael Hanemann.
What is Revision Breast Lift Surgery?
Breast lift surgery is a procedure performed to elevate and tighten the breasts to eliminate a sagging or drooping appearance. After this procedure is performed the first time, changes can continue to affect the breasts over time, requiring a second – or revision – surgery.
Breast lift revision surgery is nearly the same as the original procedure. Typically, the incision route from the first surgery is chosen, and Dr. Hanemann will lift and reshape the breast tissues to improve contour and firmness. In some cases, less extensive surgery can be performed depending on the individual.
After the first breast lift, changes in the breast can occur anywhere from six months to one year. While the changes are not as significant as the original drooping and sagging of the breasts, in some cases patients feel a revision surgery is necessary.
Am I a Good Candidate for Revision Breast Lift Surgery?
Women who have had previous breast lift surgery and are experiencing continued sagging of their breasts may be candidates for this procedure. During your consultation, Dr. Hanemann will evaluate your health, medical history, cosmetic goals and breast condition to determine the best course of treatment for you.
What is Recovery Like?
Similar to regular breast lift surgery, the breasts will be bandaged and a support bra will be worn to reduce swelling and protect the healing contours of your breasts. You will receive specific instructions from Dr. Hanemann about how to care for your incision sites in order to reduce the risks of infection and complications. He will also monitor your healing and advise you on when it is safe for you to return to work and normal activities. Strenuous exercise and other vigorous activities should be avoided until the breasts are fully healed.
While the natural aging process cannot be stopped, revision breast lift surgery can help reverse its effects on the breasts. Future pregnancies and weight gain can also affect results.
